Best in a Mixed Drink
This gin is best in a mixed drink, even just with lemon lime soda. Not the kind of gin I would just sip on with ice, which is why it got docked a star. But it is really tasty once mixed up!

A great gin
The Botanist Islay Dry Gin is a truly distinctive and complex gin that showcases the rich botanicals of the Scottish island of Islay. Its unique flavor profile is a testament to the region's wild, natural beauty. The Botanist has a crystal-clear appearance, which is typical of high-quality gins. It invites you in with a sense of purity. Upon nosing, you'll immediately notice a captivating blend of floral, herbal, and citrus notes. There are hints of wildflowers, juniper. It's flavor is remarkably well-balanced with a strong juniper backbone, but it's the supporting botanicals that make it shine. You'll detect a plethora of flavors, including herbs like thyme and sage, citrus notes from lemon and orange peel, and earthy undertones. It also has a gentle spiciness that adds depth to the overall flavor. The finish is long and satisfying. It leaves a pleasant herbal aftertaste with a hint of pepper and a subtle sweetness. This gin is versatile enough to enjoy in a classic gin and tonic, but it also shines in more elaborate cocktails. While it may be on the premium side, the depth of flavor and the sense of place it imparts make it worth every sip for those seeking a truly exceptional gin experience. Of course gin is not everyone's drink of choice, but whether you're palette is fine tuned or not, I would recommend at the very least giving it a try, or including it in on just the right cocktail.
