Nice Rum, But Needs More Chocolate
The distiller advertises the Brugal Colección Visionaria Edición 01, Cacao as having distinct aromas of hot chocolate, toasted oak, spices, and citrus balanced by subtle notes of vanilla. All captured by aging the rum in French oak barrels using a unique seasoning process. Nope. The rum is fairly smooth on the tongue, not harsh, and it's ok as an after-dinner drink or for late-evening sipping. But it's certainly not a dessert substitute for a chocolate-flavored treat. The boasting led me to expect something more when I opened the bottle. A good rum… but not the vision or special edition I hoped to enjoy.
